Google Patent 7,222,299: Detecting Quoted Text
Abstract
A method and apparatus for detecting quoted text within a document, such as an email message or email thread, is described. A text comparison is performed to identify a block of quoted text within the document. The boundaries of the block of quoted text are identified by performing a character-by-character analysis on text surrounding the identified block of quoted text. The block of quoted text is elided so that an individual can easily identify the block of quoted text as having previously been viewed.

Abstract
A search engine identifies a list of documents from a set of documents in a database in response to a set of query terms. For each document in the list, the search engine determines an information retrieval score based on its content and the query terms, and also identifies a set of source documents that have links to the document and that also have anchor text satisfying a predefined requirement with respect to the query terms.

A grinding rod chemistry enhances wearability and durability of a steel rod and comprises levels of carbon to achieve a surface hardness in excess of 55 Rockwell C and levels of chromium which achieve significant depth in the formed outer martensite shell. Abstract
A modified JAVA(.TM.) execution environment is described. The modified environment supports multiple JAVA(.TM.) applications on a single JAVA(.TM.) virtual machine (JVM). Abstract
A method of issuing a purchase card is provided. The method includes the steps of presenting a purchaser with the opportunity to buy the purchase card, determining whether the purchaser has sufficient funds to pay for the purchase card, creating a purchase card account for a recipient designated by the purchaser, and issuing the purchase card. The mapping includes reference pointers to dynamic pricing content that can be returned in response to search requests at the search engine.
